G-Dragon Takes K-pop to The Stars, Becoming The First Korean Artist to Send Music into Space

G-Dragon is poised to make history as the first Korean artist to launch his music and music video into space.

On April 9, G-Dragon’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, announced that the artist has partnered with KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) to launch the project using Azure OpenAI’s Sora, an advanced artificial intelligence service provided through Microsoft’s Azure platform.

In his role as an invited professor at KAIST, G-Dragon aspires to merge the fields of science, AI, and entertainment.

Galaxy Corporation calls the project a groundbreaking milestone in the evolution of ‘entertainment technology.’ The effort is seen as an artistic experiment that goes beyond a musical attempt to permanently preserve human culture in space and try to communicate with other civilizations.

Today at 8 PM KST, the space transmission will be held at KAIST’s Satellite Technology Research Center, as part of a project aligned with NASA’s SETI initiative.

SETI, famously known for beaming The Beatles’ music into space, now brings its storied legacy to this pioneering venture.
