Mixed Marketing
Now, a lot of people have been talking about the Ironheart series and the lack of promotional material from Marvel Studios. We have seen Robert Downey Junior give his “thumbs up” to the next one to seemingly take his place as Ironman but where is Marvel in really promoting this project.
- Trailer Release Date: Tomorrow they will be launching the official trailer. Of all days to launch it, they happen to pick the same day as the official Superman trailer launch day. This is not good marketing at all given the fact that everyone will be talking about the Superman trailer since its such an iconic moment determining the future of the new DCU.
- The Delay In Promoting: We have barely seen anything on or even about this project for a while now, but when they do finally give us something it’s literally a month away from the shows release on Disney+.
Despite all of this, there are those that hope this will not be a flop and actually bring meaning and value to the MCU.
Behind the Scenes with Ryan Coogler
Ryan Coogler, a name synonymous with groundbreaking storytelling in the MCU, has taken on the role of executive producer for “Ironheart.” His involvement is a testament to the series’ potential to expand the universe in meaningful ways. Here’s what Coogler had to say about the project:
- Childhood Inspiration: Coogler’s journey with Marvel began in comic book shops, where he was particularly drawn to the X-Men and their various offshoots like X-Factor and Wolverine. This early fascination with Marvel’s diverse characters laid the groundwork for his later work.
- Excitement for Ironheart: The introduction of Riri Williams, created by Brian Michael Bendis in 2016, was a moment of significant buzz in the industry. Coogler was thrilled by the prospect of Riri’s friendship with Tony Stark and her eventual emergence as Ironheart.
- Bringing Riri to the MCU: Coogler expressed his excitement about integrating Riri into the MCU, particularly in “Wakanda Forever.” He sees her story as one of self-proven legacy rather than merely inheriting Iron Man’s mantle.
The Vision for “Ironheart”
The series aims to explore Riri Williams’ journey beyond “Wakanda Forever,” focusing on her formative years as a superhero. Here’s a breakdown of the vision:
- Post-Wakanda Narrative: The series will pick up where “Wakanda Forever” left off, delving into the days following the events in Wakanda. This period is crucial for Riri’s development as a superhero.
- Disruptive Heroine: Riri is portrayed as a disruptive force, refusing to be diminished. This trait sets her apart and is central to the series’ narrative.
- New Journey: The story will take Riri on a completely new path, emphasizing her desire to build something undeniable and iconic. This journey is about acknowledgment and greatness.
Final Thoughts
We got to see some new faces in this promotional teaser such as Alden Ehrenreich and Anthony Ramos, with Anthony playing the Hood or the villain in this series. We’ll see how Parker Robbins(The Hood) will challenge Riri throughout this series
“Ironheart” could potentially represent a significant addition to the MCU, promising to explore new dimensions of storytelling with Riri Williams at the helm. Ryan Coogler’s insights reveal a series that is not just about a new superhero but about legacy, disruption, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. As fans gear up for the trailer and the premiere, the legacy of Riri Williams is set to unfold in an exciting new chapter of the Marvel universe. However, given Marvel’s promoting for this it’s as if they expect it to flop and want to move on as fast as possible, but we will see how the show turns out and if fans end up loving it.
