Battlefield 6 has taken the gaming world over by storm. With it beating Call of Duty’s most active player count on steam of all time with over a 500,000 active players, Call of Duty is getting quite “cooked” in the worst way right now. Battlefield 6 literally felt like you were in the middle of a battlefield. On the other hand Black Ops 6 with its operator skins felt like you were playing a variant of Fortnite. Social media has been lighting up Call of Duty with memes of how terrible the game is now. From the Skill Based Matchmaking, to the worst anti-cheat, and terrible micro transactions with skins.
First off, thank you. Call of Duty has always been fueled by the community. Every match, every clip, every bit of feedback; you’ve shaped this franchise right alongside us.

They Have Now Officially Attempted To Save Their Game
A lot of people have mixed feelings about this but they are listening to “feedback” more than ever, at least that’s what they’re talking about. Here are the changes.
- No Carry-Forward for Operators and Skins: To stay true to the Black Ops universe, items like Operators, their outfits, and weapons from Black Ops 6 won’t transfer over. This keeps everything grounded in the story and setting, avoiding any mismatched elements that could pull you out of the experience like Beavus and Butthead gunning you down.
- What Does Carry Over: On the flip side, Double XP tokens and GobbleGums are making the jump, honoring the time you’ve invested. And don’t worry—Warzone stays untouched, so all your Black Ops 6 gear lives on there without a hitch.
- Bundle and Item Tweaks: Future store bundles will lean more into the classic CoD style, striking a better balance that nods to player requests for a more “Call of Duty” immersive feel.
- Cracking Down on Cheaters with RICOCHET Upgrade: Cheating has been a thorn in the side of fair play, but the update basically says they are doing more about it, but who knows. We have heard this time and time again.
- Call of Duty: NEXT Event: Tune in on September 30 for the full Multiplayer breakdown and other surprises that’ll give you a taste of what’s coming.
- Beta Dates: Early Access kicks off October 2, followed by the Open Beta from October 5 to 8—open to everyone on all platforms. It’s your chance to test drive the changes and help fine-tune the final product.
Final Thoughts
Pressure is on and Call of Duty is feeling it from Battlefields success. Will they be able to deliver like Battlefield has, just in the beta alone. Or, will they continue the same slop year after year. I doubt they can save the game unless they address/fix a lot of the problems, instead of the cosmetics. Even then, people are upset that they dumped a bunch of money for skins to have it be taken away in the end with the change so naturally it is upsetting many people. However, they are taking the right step to address issues because they are feeling the heat from Battlefield. Healthy competition is always great, now we get to see both parties really try and out do each other.
